Internal Communications and Engagement Officer

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

What does it take to become a leading health and social care organisation in the UK? It takes people who can turn lives around every day – providing encouragement, delivering innovative services and generally improving life for individuals with a learning disability or those affected by drug and alcohol misuse or mental health problems. But it’s not just our front-line teams that make a difference. So do the dedicated professionals who work behind the scenes to support the vital work we do? And that’s where you can come in.

We are now seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Internal Communications and Engagement Officer to join our dynamic team.

This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact through engaging storytelling, innovative communication campaigns and the management of our recognition scheme and associated events.

If you are ready to take the next step in your communications career and contribute to a meaningful purpose, apply now to join our team!

The role is based in Manchester on a hybrid basis.

Role Responsibility

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Create compelling content that connects our colleagues to our purpose and activities
  • Manage our Inspired by Possibility Awards recognition scheme from promotion through to event planning and delivery
  • Maintain communication channels, including our intranet news centre, email newsletters and internal social platforms to facilitate an engaging digital experience for colleagues and effective information sharing
  • Coordinate an ongoing plan of internal communication activity to keep the Employee Communications team connected

The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for the role you will need to have at least 2 years’ experience in a communications role – you might have worked as a communications assistant or officer recently and you are eager to make the next step in your career on the path towards a communications manager role.

We are also looking for:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging and persuasive content
  • Demonstrable experience working on events
  • Confidence in working with, and measuring effectiveness of, communication tools such as the M365 suite including SharePoint, Viva Engage & MS Teams or similar
  • Experience in light-touch design and video editing, using tools such as Canva, Clipchamp, Movavi, Adobe Creative Cloud applications or similar
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and prioritise tasks effectively
  • A proactive and creative mindset, with a passion for driving colleague engagement and wellbeing
