Outreach Worker - City & Hackney

Job Introduction

Right now, we are now looking for a talented individual to work within our community-based substance use services in the City of London and Hackney as a Dual Diagnosis Outreach Worker.

The service is delivered in partnership with Mind CHWF and London Friend and there is a focus on partnership working throughout the service to support those in the local community who need assistance to achieve their goals. We deliver treatment and support across the neighbourhoods ensuring a holistic and inclusive approach to recovery in this service.

As a Dual Diagnosis Outreach Worker we offer a starting salary of £26,324 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £30,794 per year + £3,633 ILW. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

Role Responsibility

To be part of a team focused on enhancing access to support and recovery services for the rough sleeping community in the City and Hackney area. As part of new Public Health funded project, the new service has been designed around the Neighbourhoods Model with regular localised multidisciplinary team (MDTs) meetings. You will ensure the service practice is holistic and person centred, and is a tailored and co-produced treatment package, focusing solely on the rough sleeper’s goals. You will work to mitigate any physical or psychosocial barriers relating to service delivery being mostly building based and help create a long lasting systemic change in service delivery to the rough sleeper population.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Requirements:

  • Understanding of the challenges experienced by people with a dual diagnosis (Mental health/ drug and or alcohol use)
  • Ability to work in a recovery orientated, person centred, non-judgemental manner
  • Ability to provide calm, consistent support to those experiencing a mental health crisis
  • Experience of working towards achieving individual and team objectives
  • Good time management and able to work to deadlines
  • Confident and effective communicator
  • A good listener
  • Understanding of the importance of professional boundaries working with vulnerable people
  • Collaborative team working skills
  • Adaptable and able to work in a challenging and changeable environment
  • Proven track record in managing incidents of verbal and physical aggression
