Criminal Justice Recovery Worker - Herefordshire Recovery Service

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

At Turning Point, we have been supporting people for 60 years.

As a Criminal Justice Recovery Worker within the Herefordshire Recovery Service, you’ll make a real difference as you empower and enable people to change. Passionate about people, you’ll enjoy support to enhance your own life too, as you make the role your own in a friendly and multidisciplinary team.

As a Criminal Justice Recovery Worker we offer a starting salary of £24,150 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £28,252 per year. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

You will have opportunities to progress your career with a structured learning journey and clearly defined career pathways that will enable you to achieve your long-term goals and work to your strengths.

Whether you are looking to progress into a management and leadership role or to be a specialist in your field as an Advanced Recovery Practitioner at Turning point we will support and encourage you on your career journey.

Role Responsibility

Thanks to additional funding, we have an opportunity for a Criminal Justice Recovery Worker to join our Outreach and Engagement Team, providing assessments, treatment, psychosocial interventions, and care to drug and alcohol users, focussing on those people involved with the criminal justice system. You will join a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, recovery workers and peer mentors and be required to work alongside a range of partners in criminal justice, housing and health and social care.

You will be responsible for a caseload of clients across the county and as such will be expected to work flexible across different sites.

The Criminal Justice Recovery Worker will work in close partnership with local Probation and Police teams, supporting people who have been arrested and those receiving court orders for community treatment (Drug Rehabilitation Requirements and Alcohol Treatment Requirements). You will be co-located with local services, delivering brief interventions, and supporting clients to engage in treatment. You will liaise closely with prisons across the country and ensure that people being released from prison are engaged with the service to provide continuity of care.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll understand alcohol and other substance use issues, as well as appropriate treatment pathways, and the challenges and opportunities for individuals on a recovery journey. Substantial knowledge and/or experience of current detox and prescribing options would also be advantageous, as would knowledge of the criminal justice system. The role is varied, so flexibility, an ability to work dynamically on a one-to-one and group basis, and knowledge of relapse prevention and other skills to promote recovery will be vital. We also look for candidates with excellent communication and organisational skills who share our values as an organisation.

We value individual creativity and initiative and, whatever your role, you will be fully involved in identifying opportunities to improve the quality of our services and the service user experience. Your ideas will be listened to, and your suggestions implemented wherever possible. You will be supported in your role by extensive training to help develop your skills. Our learning culture encourages everyone to stay on top of the latest developments in their field and helps drive service improvement.
