At Turning Point we provide services across the whole country which delivers end to end drug and alcohol treatment and support, family services, housing advice and support for those in contact with the criminal justice system, needle exchange system, and custody outreach. We are a specialist in delivering whole treatment system approaches across counties, which has led to the reduction in people falling through gaps between services and delivers improved outcomes.
At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with substance misuse issues and currently recruiting for a Young Persons Criminal Justice Recovery Worker. You will join our integrated service which delivers treatment across Slough. You will join our specialist Young Persons Team delivering substance misuse treatment to service users to under 18’s and young adults up to the age of 25. Role Responsibility
You will support a caseload of Young People and Young Adults; undertaking assessments, developing person centred recovery plans and running evidence based substance misuse interventions in groups and on a 1:2:1 basis. You will deliver interventions both face to face and via telephone and video technology where appropriate.
Multi-agency working with partner agencies including Youth Offending Teams, Schools, Police, prison's, Children’s Homes and Social Services is an essential part of this role. You will spend your time out and about, working alongside the Youth Offending Team, going into Schools and colleges across the borough providing presentations to groups and seeing young people wherever meets their needs.
The Ideal Candidate
Having handled a significant caseload in a busy environment as a Recovery Worker, Outreach Worker or similar, you'll have a deep understanding of substance misuse and the Recovery Agenda. It's an extremely varied role, so flexibility and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital. Naturally, we also look for Engagement and Prevention workers with excellent communication skills and, ideally, a vocational qualification, such as an NVQ 3 or equivalent.
The ability to engage with young people and young adults is a fundamental skill required for this role.
The managing of recovery coordination sessions, compiling risk assessments and risk management plans, care planning and reduction plans are just some of the varied duties you will be providing. Also delivering presentations and workshops on various topics.
