Part Time Role: 18.5 hours per week (2.5 days)

We have a range of roles for people passionate about supporting others to make change.
We have roles in different teams including:
- Community based treatment services: providing assessment, coordinating treatment and working partnership to support individuals. The roles include delivering structured psycho-social interventions in group and one to level to enable our service users to acquire thinking skills and behaviours to make lasting change.
- Homeless outreach provision: Targeting homeless individuals, offering a flexible and outreach response to highly vulnerable individuals sleeping rough or living in temporary accommodation
- Criminal Justice rehabilitation/recovery services: working closely with the Probation Services, Prisons and Police to provide a rapid, tailored response to individuals that support their recovery and rehabilitation

Role Responsibility
You will carry a mixed and varied case load of young people and young adults who have been affected by drug or alcohol use of another person. The will also involve group work based in the western area of the county. The case load will come from a wide number of referral sources, therefore building strong professional friendships with partner agencies will be vital to your role.
You will work with the clients in their community helping them to learn more about drugs and alcohol, dispelling myths and supporting them to learn new and better ways to cope.
Within the role you will be looking at all aspects of the client’s life helping them to access other services where appropriate so an understanding of the youth offer across Suffolk is an advantage.
You may work with a young person in their family home so confidence to manage family conflict and skills to support positive communication between your client and their care givers will be useful.
As part of the team you will deliver group work sessions within schools and other services to young people offering universal, targeted and specialist education. This will include school assemblies and large groups.
The Ideal Candidate
- Substance Use experience is an advantage but youth work experience is vital as you have to be able to engage young people who can be resistant to support.
- You will be working using a multi-agency approach – looking at helping the client create a community support package that they can rely on into their future if needed.
- You would be expected to attend multi agency meetings regarding your clients so a good understanding of safeguarding is important.
- As the role is out reach; good time management will be important as will strong IT skills as you will be expected to manage your own client records, diary and time.
- The successful candidate will be offered a comprehensive training package including ‘Thrive Approach’ training.
