Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber - ROAR

As a Non-Medical Prescriber or Pharmacist Prescriber in our Rochdale & Oldham services, you'll make a real difference to their lives of those experiencing difficulties from drugs and alcohol usage. Role Responsibility

Our integrated community drug and alcohol service offers support to individuals across Rochdale & Oldham. You will work within a busy prescribing service under the supervision of our Clinical Services Manager, alongside our Clinical Team and specialist Recovery Workers and Peer Mentors to improve the wellbeing of a wide range of individuals.

In addition to running prescribing clinics, undertaking health and wellbeing assessments, you will contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings providing robust governance and supporting team learning and development. The role will also entail the delivery of both targeted and opportunistic clinical interventions which are likely to include Blood Borne Virus, Dried Blood Spot Testing, Pabrinex injections, Hepatitis B vaccinations and Buvidal injections. 

You will attend a local fortnightly prescribers meeting, one to one clinical supervision and national prescriber/clinician meetings which will also support your learning and continuous professional development.

As an employee you will have access to RCNi to assist with revalidation, indemnity insurance and support from the Clinical Lead (Consultant Psychiatrist), Clinical Operations Manager, Turning Point’s Head of Nursing and Head of Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services.

The role may involve running planned clinics and delivering throughout various locations and outreach activities within core service hours with some out of hours; therefore the ability to work flexibly and be a car owner and travel is essential.

The Ideal Candidate

Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council or a qualified Pharmacist and already a qualified independent prescriber, you will need to be confident managing all aspects of prescribing for opiates and managing alcohol detoxifications.

You must have a real passion to help people turn their lives around and an unwavering belief in the ability for individuals to make changes. You must be caring, flexible and responsive and be able to work using your own initiative and as part of a team.
