We are looking for a dedicated, passionate and experienced internal applicant, for this exciting new role within our Connect substance use service. The Trainee Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) is offered as a Master Level Apprenticeship over 18 months, undertaken in partnership with the University of Plymouth. As an apprentice you will be employed full time by Turning Point, with your time split between academic teaching/study and clinical practice in service. You will be supervised by a Highly Specialist Practitioner Psychologist. There will be weeks when you are required to travel and stay overnight in Plymouth to attend face to face lectures at the University of Plymouth.

Upon successful completion of the 18 month apprenticeship programme you will gain a Masters level qualification, and continue working in the Connect service as a Band 6 Clinical Associate in Psychology. This is an apprenticeship role – as a Trainee CAP, the salary will be £29,266 - £34,237
On successfully qualifying, the salary will be £39,586 - £46,309
Role Responsibility
As a Trainee Clinical Associate Psychologist, you will work closely with the Highly Specialist Practitioner Psychologist and the wider multidisciplinary teams. Your duties could include:
• Delivering high quality, evidence based psychological assessments, formulations and interventions with the people we support, under the supervision of the HCPC registered practitioner psychologist.
• Working with individuals and groups with complex and long-term needs, conducting risk assessments and risk formulations.
• Using psychological outcome measures to evaluate and inform the quality of clinical practice.
• Offering psychological perspectives and resources on client treatment during case consultation and team meetings.
• Providing training, guidance and supervision to the multidisciplinary team, using psychological models, within the scope of your practice.
• Obtaining feedback from staff and clients on psychologically-informed aspects of treatment, discussing with Practitioner Psychologists for team discussion on service improvements.
• Undertaking clinically relevant audit, service evaluation and research.
• Working with our national team of Clinical, Counselling and Forensic Psychologists to develop psychological and psycho-social approaches used across services.
The Ideal Candidate
Along with one year’s clinically relevant experience and passing your Turning Point probation, you will have GCSEs in Maths and English at A*-C or equivalent, and a minimum 2:2 BSc (Hons) Psychology degree accredited by the BPS with Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the BPS.
