At the Suffolk Drug and Alcohol Service we provide services across the whole of Suffolk which delivers end to end drug and alcohol treatment and support for adults and young people, supports those in contact with the criminal justice system, needle syringe programme and people affected by a loved one’s drug and / or alcohol use.
We are currently recruiting an Advanced Recovery Practitioner: harm reduction to work across Suffolk. You will be responsible for delivering excellence in all aspects of service delivery. Working closely with clinicians, recovery workers and managers, you will contribute to the planning of harm reduction interventions and actively respond to evolving local needs. You will deliver harm reduction training to internal team members and externally as part of our core training offer. We will also rely on you to build and maintain strong relationships with other local stakeholders. In addition, you will stay abreast of the latest developments in the substance use field and use your initiative to identify and explore new opportunities within our integrated service structure. You will need experience of the substance use sector and in depth knowledge of Harm Reduction as well as a proven ability to lead and develop projects.
As a Harm Reduction Advanced Practitioner, we offer a starting salary of £29,244 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £33,880 per year. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

Role Responsibility
The post holder will engage in training and development opportunities as they arise in order to develop and maintain their leadership skills and knowledge;
- Effective partnership working, in particular with pharmacies and local agencies;
- Deliver interventions that are underpinned by a strong evidence base;
- Participate in clinical meetings and complex case meetings;
- Support the learning and development of Recovery Workers and Trainee Recovery Workers, providing specialist input into Multi-Disciplinary Meetings;
- Provide mentoring and coaching to staff to support their development, learning and standards of care;
- Being known as knowledgeable and an expert in harm reduction within the service;
- Ensuring achievement of key performance indicators relevant to your role;
- Delivering internal and external learning events and representing Turning Point nationally if required in your specialist area.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience in working within a substance use treatment and recovery setting;
- Specialist interest depth knowledge of harm reduction;
- Understanding of risk and risk management, as it applies to substance use and complexity;
- Significant experience of working in health and social care;
- It is essential that the post holder is able to travel throughout the county;
- You must be IT literate with a good understanding of data reporting systems;
- You must be able to adapt to competing priorities and be extremely organised.
