Assertive Outreach and Tenancy Support Worker - ROAR

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

Please Note: A full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.

At Turning Point, we support people across England with substance misuse problems. As a Support Worker, you’ll make a real difference to their lives as you provide support and advice to help each and every one of our service users achieve their potential. Passionate about people, you’ll enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life too, as you make this role your own as part of a hard-working and friendly team.

Running health facilities and services on a not-for-profit basis, we invest every penny back into our care – and our people. So, if you’re ambitious and focused on helping people with substance misuse recover and make real sustained changes, we would like to hear from you.

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity to join the ROAR Partnership team has become available. This team is focused on delivering a high standard of accommodation-based and outreach support. We would like to recruit someone who is committed and dedicated to working with people who are affected by substance misuse. This post is based across Rochdale and Oldham, therefore mobility is essential to the post holder; you will be required to work across both locality hubs and community sites.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll need a good working knowledge of issues related to substance misuse, as well as a genuine passion for the field. Although previous relevant experience, on either a voluntary basis or as a paid employee is preferable, most important is that you’re flexible, patient and able to view situations from a service user’s perspective. As you’d expect, good moral values will be key. Situations can sometimes be difficult and challenging, so you’ll need to be non-judgemental, with a sensitive approach and a good understanding of how to meet complex needs related to substance misuse.

Previous experience of facilitating group based interventions as well as working with clients on a one to one basis would be an advantage.

At a practical level you will need good IT skills and excellent communication skills. It would be preferable if the post holder has had previous experience in delivering accommodation-based and outreach support.
