Youth & Families Worker - Suffolk Recovery Network
Job Introduction

At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with substance misuse issues. As a Youth and Families Worker you will be working with young people who are using drugs or alcohol or who are affected by someone else's use up to the age of 21 (24 with additional vulnerabilities). You will be expected to work in the community with partner agencies as well as within the Youth Justice team managing a mixed case load of young people and young adults to support them to make life long changes.
Role Responsibility
- Work with young people who are involved with Youth Justice services
- Work with young people in schools, housing providers or other youth provision to bring the service to the client to support engagement and change
- Offer group sessions in a number of different setting to support education and understanding of drugs and alcohol so people can make informed choices
- Engage support and work with young people affected by someone else's drug or alcohol use
- Take part in multi agency groups to support young people, with children and young peoples services or other partnership agencies
- Create support plans that have a legacy element to support the client even when they stop working with Turning Point
The Ideal Candidate
You will ideally have experience of the substance misuse sector or have transferable skills and be looking for a change. Having handled a significant caseload in a busy environment, you'll have an understanding of substance misuse and the recovery agenda. Naturally, we look for our workers to have excellent communication skills and an ability to be flexible and take on an extremely varied role.
We want to invest in you, train you and support you to secure a future with a sector leader. So, you'll need to be highly motivated with big ambitions and even bigger potential.
Ideally, you will have access to your own transport and have the ability to travel around Suffolk, including some rural setting.
