The under 25s service works with people in the community - taking support and care to them and helping them build a stronger future.
This outreach position will have you working closely with schools, housing providers, social care and mental health services as well as social care and third sector agencies to build a legacy support network for young people so that they have what they need to thrive.
As a Young Persons Recovery Worker we offer a starting salary of £23k rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £27k per year.

Role Responsibility
As a Young Persons Recovery Worker, you will carry a case load of clients up to the age of 25. You will support them to understand their drug or alcohol use and make the changes they want and need to make.
You will work one to one with clients in community settings, including their homes.
you will offer a range of services to meet the Drug and Alcohol needs of the young person and will support them to, learn more about drugs and alcohol, reduce their use or work towards abstinence.
You will do this via regular one to one appointments and include interventions such as:
- A comprehensive assessment and care planning package
- Education and harm reduction advice
- Up to date and relevant drug and alcohol information
- Support to gain control and achieve goals
- Brief interventions covering relationships, resilience and strengths, emotional health and wellbeing, decision making skills, coping strategies and relapse prevention work.
- A dedicated young people’s clinical service
- Signposting and access to other services
- Specialist support for young people affected by someone else's use.
An ability to communicate effectively with a range or service users and colleagues, an ability to manage different tasks and a commitment to Turning Point values are essential.
You will carry a mixed and varied case load of young people and young adults who want to access support to help them deal with their drug or alcohol use. The case load will come from a wide number of referral sources, therefore building strong professional friendships with partner agencies will be vital to your role.
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll have an understanding of substance and alcohol misuse and the challenges and opportunities this can bring for a client. You will have experience of working with young people or young adults and feel comfortable to work with them one to one or in group settings such as schools or youth centres.
We also recognise that many people have transferrable skills from other backgrounds such as mental health, housing or other health and social care provision which can support someone to make changes that can change their lives.
The roles is varied, so flexibility, an ability to work dynamically on a one to one and group basis and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be important -but a passion to help young people live their best lives is vital
