Volunteer Drivers - Barnsley

Do you want to make a difference to the people we support in your local community and also enjoy driving? If you do please read on…..

We are currently looking for caring and friendly drivers, to join us at Turning Point, in our Barnsley Learning Disabilities Services! You will meet some inspirational people, whilst making a really positive impact to their lives by helping them to get out and about to the social activities which they enjoy and also to those appointments which are important to them.

We are looking for drivers who will be happy to drive the vehicles owned by the people we support.

Role Responsibility

Activities will include:

• Driving the people we support between their homes, activities and appointments in a safe manner
• Driving around the Barnsley area, which will be the start and end point of the majority of journeys
• Helping the people we support into and out of their vehicles, with assistance from our trained Turning Point support colleagues
• Driving in a manner that is sensitive to the emotional and physical needs of the people we support
• Driving vehicles owned by the people we support

Please note that activities will NOT include support with: personal care, medication or financial assistance.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for drivers who:

• Are aged 21 or over, with at least 12 months driving experience
• Hold a full, clean and current UK Driving License
• Are caring and friendly and supportive to both the people we support and our Turning Point colleagues
• Are flexible, patient and non-judgemental
• Have the ability to understand both verbal and written instructions in relation to journeys
• Are willing to commit to volunteer regularly (times and days can be discussed)
