Trainee Recovery Worker - Suffolk Recovery Network

As a Trainee Recovery Worker, you’ll make a real difference to their lives as you develop the personal, flexible and realistic support packages they need to help turn things around. Role Responsibility

As a Trainee Recovery Worker you will work in the hub at Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich and you will learn how to manage a caseload of clients, undertake assessments, develop person centred recovery plans and support individuals to turn their lives around. You will learn how to deliver interventions using various modes, including face to face, over the telephone and video call, depending on client need.  You'll form part of a friendly multi-disciplinary team with doctors, nurses, psychologists, support workers and peer mentors. You will work with other agencies and build relationships with families and professionals to make sure each person gets the right care for their needs.

This is a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to peoples lives as you support individuals on their recovery journey.

With training, you will be required to: 

  • Undertake comprehensive substance misuse assessments, including urine drug screens and dry blood spot testing
  • Deliver psychosocial interventions face to face in one to one and group settings as well as and using digital options
  • Manage a caseload, including reviewing and updating care plan reviews and risk assessments with clients
  • Ensure appropriate entries are made on client electronic records
  • Refer and signpost clients to our appropriate partner agencies for specialist support
  • Work with clients to support them with residential rehabilitation applications
  • Work with the clinical team to jointly deliver client treatment
  • Deliver harm reduction and needle exchange services
  • Participate in the safe and secure storage of medicines in accordance with all medicines legislation and Turning Point policies
  • Report critical incidents using DATIX
  • Attend internal and external meetings

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking to recruit candidates with a can do attitude and those are who committed to inspiring the possibility of recovery in others. With the training on offer, experience in the sector is an advantage but not essential and its more important to us to have a willingness to learn and develop your skills along with a passion for working with our clients. 

We are looking for candidates with a can do attitude and keenness to learn. In your CV / application form please tell us about the experience you have which meets the below criteria:

  • Proven verbal and written communication skills 
  • IT skills 
  • Assessment, care planning and risk management skills
  • Collaborative team working skills
  • Knowledge of client need
  • Working with and safeguarding vulnerable and complex people
