Supporting and engaging residents affected by substance misuse across Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham is a vitally important part of Turning Point’s work. You will work within a busy prescribing service under the supervision of our Clinical Lead to improve the wellbeing of a wide range of individuals.
As a nurse and then following your training as a Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) you’ll have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support who are experiencing difficulties from drugs and alcohol use, working with them to develop the personal, flexible and realistic support packages they need to help turn things around.

Role Responsibility
As a Nurse you will be involved with supporting opiate substitute treatment, alcohol and opiate detoxifications and promoting the uptake of naloxone. You will also provide Blood Borne Virus screening and vaccinations and will work closely with mental health, physical health and social care services. You'll also help to create a collaborative approach that links Turning Point ever closer to outside professionals and agencies.
We are looking for a Nurse with a commitment to be supported by Turning Point to become a Non Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP). The service will support the candidate with funding, supervision and study support to achieve the relevant qualification. Once qualified as a Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) you will be involved with opiate substitute treatment, alcohol and opiate detoxifications and relapse prevention medications.
The Ideal Candidate
You will need to be a qualified nurse registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council. As an employee you will have access to RCNi to assist with revalidation, indemnity insurance and support and supervision from the nurse manager and clinical lead. And of course, we’re looking for a Nurse who loves talking to people with different needs, is genuinely interested in helping them, and possesses a deep level of empathy, understanding and patience.
Experience of working in drug/ alcohol is an advantage but more important is a willingness to learn, a passion for helping people and a desire to bring your experience as a nurse into the role.
