Tier 4 Advanced Recovery Practitioner

Job Introduction

At Turning Point we provide services across the whole country which delivers end to end drug and alcohol treatment and support, family services, housing advice and support for those in contact with the criminal justice system, needle exchange system, and custody outreach. We are a specialist in delivering whole treatment system approaches across cities and county areas, which has led to the reduction in people falling through gaps between services and delivers improved outcomes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Horizons, a vibrant new partnership delivering substance use treatment and recovery services in Bristol. Horizons is delivered in partnership between Turning Point, Bristol Drugs Project, and seven other local and national partners. The partnership combines Turning Point’s experience as an outstanding national substance use provider together with Bristol Drugs Project’s long history of excellent service delivery in the city.  

We would like to recruit a dedicated Tier 4 Advanced Recovery Practitioner who will concentrate on supporting services users and staff with our pathways into and from inpatient detox and rehabilitation. The role will coordinate queries, referrals and assessments into inpatient services, and support the care of those going through the pathway and into community services afterwards, including budgets.

The salary scale for our Advanced Recovery Practitioner roles is between £29,244 - £33,880. See our full salary scale below. Starting salary will be dependent on experience with annual pay progression up to scale point 5.

Role Responsibility

Carry a designated caseload of service users with complex needs that may include one of the following: mental health, long term conditions, criminal justice, offending behaviour, homelessness, motivational interviewing, safeguarding, family work.

• Conduct assessments of need and risk assessments and formulate risk management plans and recovery plans that recognise the personal recovery goals of the service user;

• Effective partnership working with members of any multi-disciplinary team and other agencies and coordinate multiagency meetings when appropriate.

• Deliver interventions that are underpinned by strong evidence base.

• Participate in clinical meetings and complex case meetings and be confident and competent at presenting cases orally and through written reports.

• Support the learning and development of Recovery Workers and Trainee Recovery Workers, providing specialist input into multi-disciplinary Meetings.

• Provide mentoring and coaching to staff to support their development, learning and standards of care.

• Being known as a knowledgeable in a designated specialism within the service (e.g. substance use and mental health, Homelessness/complex needs, domestic abuse, mental capacity).

• Ensuring achievement of key performance indicators relevant to your role.

• Delivering internal learning events and representing Turning Point nationally if required in your specialist area.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

  • Exceptional report writing and case notes
  • Demonstrable experience in working within a substance use treatment and recovery setting
  • Specialist interest depth knowledge of one or more complexities alongside substance use. This may be mental health, long term conditions, criminality, homelessness, Domestic Violence etc
  • Understanding of risk and risk management, as it applies to substance use and complexity.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Significant experience of working in health and social care
