Team Manager - Wakefield

We have a new opportunity in our Wakefield homes, where we provide 24 hour supported living for people (adults) that live with Learning Disabilities and additional health issues, for an experienced and motivated Team Manager.

Role Responsibility

As a Team Manager you will lead and manage 2 or more teams each with their own dedicated lead support worker. In the Wakefield west area, to deliver safe, high-quality, and person-centred support by providing day-to-day leadership for colleagues, maintaining a positive culture of inclusion, learning, and accountability. You will work collaboratively with the Supporting Living Manager to deliver the contractual, financial, and quality expectations for the homes.

Building on your experience, you’ll set, maintain and develop quality standards in the delivery of consistently high-quality services within a challenging but very rewarding environment.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, motivate and develop teams to deliver person-centred care through effective recruitment, induction, supervision, performance management and wellbeing support. Foster a positive culture, model organisational values, lead change and provide management cover when required.

Ensure services are safe, compliant and inspection-ready through robust governance, safeguarding, audits, risk management and quality assurance. Lead investigations, maintain business continuity arrangements

  • Manage budgets, resources and financial controls effectively, monitoring expenditure, staffing costs and forecasts to ensure sustainable service delivery and value for money.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, lead involvement initiatives, manage referrals and transitions, and promote the service positively within the community to support occupancy and reputation.
  • Ensure accurate, secure and GDPR-compliant records. Use performance data, reporting tools and digital technologies to drive service improvement, informed decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Promote person-centred approaches, independence, inclusion and continuous improvement while ensuring operational leadership and effective service delivery across the home(s).
  • Visible leadership and operating flexibly, as this role will involve out-of-hours checks supporting/coaching colleagues and in exceptional circumstances the need to backfill when there is risk to safe service delivery

The Ideal Candidate

A successful candidate will have:

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience leading teams in a health or social care setting
  • Experience in people management including recruitment, performance and development
  • Sound understanding of quality, safeguarding, governance and risk management with experience of managing services which are governed by CQC regulations
  • Ability to manage budgets, resources and operational performance effectively
  • Confident communication and relationship‑building with families, professionals and external stakeholders
  • Have or be Willingness to work towards NVQ Level 4/5 qualification

 

Desirable skills

  • Experience managing inspections, audits or service improvement activity
  • Confidence using data, reports and digital systems to use these insights to drive performance
  • Involvement in transitions, referrals or service development initiative
