Team Leader

Job Introduction

At Turning Point, we’re passionate about giving young people the stability, confidence, and opportunities they need to build bright futures. We support individuals across the UK with Mental Health needs, Substance Use, and Learning Disabilities — and now we’re looking for a dedicated Team Leader to help shape the next chapter for young people in our Ofsted registered supported accommodation services.

If you're someone who thrives on making a real difference, leading by example, and creating environments where young people can thrive — this is the role for you.

As a Team Leader, you’ll play a key part in ensuring young people feel safe, supported, and empowered as they build on their independent living skills. The role covers two Ofsted registered supported accommodation services, collectively supporting 20 young people with diverse experiences, including care leavers, young people at risk of homelessness and separated migrant young people.

This role blends hands-on support and leadership responsibilities, giving you the chance to directly impact young people’s lives while guiding and inspiring a dedicated staff team.

Role Responsibility

No two days are the same — and that’s what makes this role so rewarding. You’ll split your time between rota work and management tasks, ensuring the service runs smoothly and safely. Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting Young People:

  • Helping young people develop independence skills — budgeting, cooking, cleaning, managing their tenancy
  • Promoting positive lifestyle choices, wellbeing, and access to education, training, and employment
  • Delivering engaging key-working sessions and offering day-to-day guidance
  • Developing and updating person-centred support plans and risk assessments to include each young person’s strengths and aspirations
  • Managing referrals, sign-up processes, and move-on plans to support positive transitions
  • Supporting tenancy management, repairs, income matters, and housing-related tasks
  • Maintaining precise and accurate daily records

Leading the Team

  • Providing regular supervision, guidance, and performance management
  • Managing rotas, staff absence, and day-to-day operations of the services
  • Working with managers, support workers, internal teams and external professionals to ensure high-quality practice
  • Helping shape how we deliver services
  • Drive improvements within the teams and embed best practice
  • Follow and promote Turning Point’s policies and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll be someone who is motivated, compassionate, and confident in leading a team through the challenges and rewards of working with young people. Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Experience supporting young people in care, leaving care, or experiencing homelessness
  • A proven track record in leadership, supervision, or people management
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach in challenging situations
  • Passion for empowering young people to build independence
  • Flexibility to the service needs, as the role will include evening and weekend work and on-call cover
  • Energy to thrive in a fast-paced, varied environment

An NVQ Level 3 is desirable, but not essential — we value the right experience and mindset.
