Team Leader - Kent and Medway Supported Accommodation
Job Introduction
We are developing a brand new service in Ashford for people with Mental Health needs who can be supported in a non-clinical recovery focused environment. We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Team Leader, who is ready to take on the challenge of forming and shaping a team, alongside the responsibility of the day to day management of the service.
This residential service consists of 5 rooms and provides up to 5 days intensive support for individuals with enduring mental health needs, who are in crisis – providing them with therapeutic alternative to hospital admission.
At Turning point, we believe everyone is unique. It’s the moment when they realise, they’ve made a small, but important, step forward. Very often, that small step is the start of something bigger, but only when the right support, advice and services are in place. You’ll make a real difference to their lives as you develop the personal, flexible and recovery-focused support plans they need to help turn things around. Passionate about people, you’ll support them to take control, improve their quality of life and face the future with confidence.
Role Responsibility
At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with mental health issues. As a Team Leader you’ll make a real difference to their lives as you work closely with them to help them achieve their potential. You will form part of a supportive management team within the region and there is the opportunity for growth in the future.
As a Team Leader you will support the development of this service alongside the Service Manager, providing line management to a team of Recovery Workers/Peer Support Workers, enabling the service to meet and exceed outcomes and quality requirements that promote independence and recovery for the individuals we support. You will have some oversight of referrals to the service and will work closely within our multi-disciplinary team, to ensure the best possible outcomes for individuals we support.
The Ideal Candidate
As an essential, you will have previous relevant experience of using a person-centred approach in a Mental Health setting, a good understanding of the complex needs of individuals we support and experience of working with people with mental health crisis. You must be capable of prioritising your own workload and using your initiative. An effective team player, you will possess good communication skills, a flexible recovery focussed approach, a positive attitude and be able to adapt in a changeable environment.
A background working in an environment supporting vulnerable people in the community is essential. Experience of service planning and ensuring that services are well positioned to meet contractual requirements would also be advantageous. You will also have experience of working with people with mental health crisis. Experience of working with individuals with dual-diagnoses is preferred but not essential.
