Team Coordinator - Resilience

Job Introduction

Resilience provides support, advice and education to young people on Sexual Health and Substance Misuse in Hammersmith and Fulham. This service is called Resilience and is provided by Turning-Point.

Resilience provides information about sex, relationships and substance misuse through one-to-one key working sessions, workshop delivery, group work, and training to professionals who support young people in the borough.

The right person will work to deliver a service that has dedicated support for young people (who are under the age of 25) by promoting topics such laws around drugs and alcohol, potential risks with substances, and harm reduction approaches to those who are using substances but want more information to reduce risks. This delivery of substance misuse is integrated with sexual health interventions by confidently, discussing topics such as  healthy relationships,  consent, anatomy, online safety (including social media and networking apps), LGBTQ+, STI’s, contraception, sex and the law, self-esteem and coping mechanisms; with and regular theme of the use of substances. Supporting young people to build overall knowledge, confidence and resilience, is key in implementing our value to empower young people.

Role Responsibility

This role will contribute, manage and monitor a holistic approach to safeguarding young people, through supporting practitioners identifying behaviour which are positive and supportive, in contrast to that which is exploitative and controlling. A key part of if this role is managing people, ensuring all quality work conducted by practitioners is reported correctly and to ensure it can be linked in to outcomes and KPI’s agreed with our commissioners.

Our service aims to support young people by providing and implementing the following, with a focus on substance misuse, healthy sex and relationships:

  • Taking on referrals for 1-1 work with under 25 year olds which come from; young people directly, professionals, parents and other services who aim to support young people collaboratively and holistically.
  •  Creating bespoke person-centred care plans to meet the specific needs and goals of the individual
  •  Provide group work and workshops in a variety of setting such as schools, youth clubs and partnering services.
  • Provide professional training to those who work in supporting young people’s health needs, in order to improve their knowledge around substance misuse and sexual health impacting young people
  • Provide brief intervention for general advice and information around sexual health and substance misuse; both incoming but also including outreach settings (such as fresher’s fairs, festivals, pride, events, drop-ins ect)
  • Engage with professionals and young people to raise awareness of sexual health and substance misuse in a positive and non-stigmatising way.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have an excellent working knowledge around areas such as; substance misuse, sexual health and health promotion, working with complex individuals, child safeguarding, and can work to deadlines and achieve results against specific targets and goals. The ideal candidate will require this knowledge in order to oversee the quality of work being conducted by the two front line practitioners.

You’ll need to be computer literate, have the skills to multi-task, able to manage your own time and be able to bring a naturally positive disposition to our team. Possession of a relevant NVQ in social care or an equivalent is ideal, as is the motivation to acquire a qualification.
