TTG Prison Link Recovery Worker - HMP Thameside

Job Introduction

At Turning Point, we provide services across the whole country that deliver end to end drug and alcohol treatment and support, family services, housing advice and support for those in contact with the criminal justice system, needle exchange system, and custody outreach. Working closely with OHID (Office of Health Improvements and Disparities), The London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham & Southwark; we are looking to recruit a Through the Gate Prison Link Worker. This is an opportunity to frame the future of Prison based / Community based collaborative Drug and Alcohol working to ensure the safe transition from custody to the community.

We will offer a starting salary of £26,324 + £3,633 ILW rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £30,794 per year + £3,633 ILW. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

Role Responsibility

Join us as one of our Through the Gate Prison Link Recovery Workers in London's busiest Prison. You will assist with the delivery of a high-quality, person-centred service. You'll work with service users to develop support packages that are realistic and flexible and take a collaborative approach with our clinical partners PPG (Patient Plus Group) and our in-Prison Offender Management Team (Catch 22), as well as working inside our community partner Drug and Alcohol Teams. Duties will include, Prisoner induction, initial assessment, care planning, provision of advice & guidance, sharing of partner information and signposting to appropriate custody/community partners, delivery of harm reduction and the undertaking of 1-2-1 key work. You will work closely with Community based Prison Link Workers and provide activity DATA to Borough wide DATA leads. Escorting Prisoners on the day of release will be a big part of the role ensuring that they connect well with the right people to ensure the risk of harm/death on release is minimised/mitigated/addressed.

The Ideal Candidate

A Robust, self-starter with strong oral and written communication skills. You'll have a background in managing a caseload of service users with complex needs and a track record of managing incidents of violent and verbal aggression. The role's core hours are Monday to Friday, however there will also be some weekend work on a rotational basis. As the role is based within HMP Thameside, you will need to gain full clearance for working in prison (including both DBS and MOJ clearance checks).
