Support Worker - Hastings Sanctuary Service
Job Introduction
Join Hastings Sanctuary Service, and you won't simply make a profound difference to the lives of up to 7 men or women with Mental Health issues and/or a Personality Disorder who are in a crisis. You will also shape an innovative, person–centred therapeutic model that really could change the way the individuals we support are treated in the future.
Hastings Sanctuary Service has an underpinning philosophy of person centred development and embeds therapeutic, meaningful activity in every intervention and interaction.
Role Responsibility
As a Support Worker, you will develop good working relationships with each of the service users, be able to recognize individual indicators of mental health or personality disorder needs and to have the skills to support the service users to develop appropriate coping strategies and sign post them onto other service providers for longer term support. A large part of your role will be to implement planned, appropriate interventions, promoting independence, well–being and give then hope for the future. You will also aim for the service users with mental health issues to stay for no longer than 4-7 days, and a structured 72 hour stay for those service users on the Personality Disorder Pathway.
The Ideal Candidate
Heath and social care experience or qualification would be desirable but a passion for supporting people with mental health issues is essential. You must be an excellent communicator and possess good people skills. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting people with Mental Health and Personality Disorder issues in either a working or personal environment.
As a Support Worker, your hours will involve shift work which includes some weekends and bank holidays.
