Support Worker - Douglas House
Job Introduction

We are located in a community setting near to Didsbury Village, Manchester with great transport links.
We care for 12 male and female service users, who experience severe and enduring mental health issues, offering therapeutic packages of mental health rehabilitation to those who are both informal and detained under the Mental Health Act.
Role Responsibility
Working alongside a full and varied multi-disciplinary team consisting of consultant psychiatrists, doctors, mental health nurses, art therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, support workers, project workers, and peer support workers. You will develop therapeutic relationships with service users, and help them to develop appropriate coping strategies and skills for independent living. Douglas House is a unique environment that gets great results for its service users, and has a friendly, caring and inclusive team without the need for control and restraint procedures or rapid tranquilisation.
We are a 24 hour service and your role will involve working 37 hours per week. The shift patterns consist of earlies, lates, nights, weekends and bank holidays. We operate a self-rostering system which means we can work around you and your commitments.
The Ideal Candidate
Health and social care experience or qualification would be desirable but we can support you to gain further qualifications whilst in post if you are the right person for the job. You must be an excellent communicator, be enthusiastic about giving good care, and possess good people skills.
