Specialist Domestic Abuse Recovery Worker – LLR (Leicester)

Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Turning Point’s Leicester City Substance Misuse Services as a Specialist Domestic Abuse Recovery Worker. Your role you will focus on engaging with and delivering treatment to those in Leicester City that are victims of domestic abuse. Working in partnership with local domestic abuse services and safe accommodation you will work to support those with drug and alcohol issues and who also are victims of domestic abuse.

Role Responsibility

  • Enhance understanding of the needs of those who are or have been victim of domestic abuse with substance use needs
  • Reduce the barriers of victims of domestic abuse to securing safe accommodation
  • Improve the outcomes of victims (adults and children), of domestic abuse
  • Contribute and attendance to the daily MARAC calls
  • Supporting other Recovery Workers who may have domestic abuse service users
  • Link in with local domestic abuse services and safe accommodation
  • Support service users on caseload that have been victims of domestic abuse
  • Facilitate 1 to 1 support and running of peer support and wellbeing groups

Your role will focus on engaging with and delivering treatment within Leicester City of those who need support for their substance misuse and who have been victims of domestic abuse.

You will be based in the Leicester City and deliver treatment throughout the city. You will work collaboratively with local domestic abuse services, safe accommodation providers and local councils to understand the barriers to treatment and how to overcome these.  

You will work with a caseload of individuals in treatment, delivering both drug and alcohol treatment on both a one-to-one and group basis helping individuals reduce or stop their substance use as well as supporting them with their domestic abuse needs.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be highly engaging and have a real passion for supporting those with substance misuse and domestic abuse. You must have an understanding of domestic abuse as well as substance use and have a desire to help those that need help and how to help them overcome, barriers to accessing services. You do not need to be an expert in drugs and alcohol as full training will be provided, but you must have a genuine belief in the capacity of individuals to change.

You will be required to travel to community sites so access to a car and a driving licence would be beneficial.
