Sexual Health Practitioner – LSL Sexual Health Services
Job Introduction
The Sexual Health Practitioner at Turning Point’s new adult sex health service will support and deliver outreach work with residents from vulnerable backgrounds, across Lambeth, Southwark, and Lewisham. You will deliver on the service’s engagement programme, providing education, drop-ins, peer-support groups, and information on issues related to sexual health and wellbeing, for residents from the following backgrounds:
- Sex workers
- People who misuse substances
- Rough sleepers and people experiencing homelessness
- People with learning disabilities
- People whose lives are impacted by challenging mental health issues
- Transgender people
- Asylum seekers and refugees
- Women escaping from domestic violence
- Other marginalised groups
You will support in delivering professional trainings to those who support their service users around their sexual health. You will also assist service users in registering with SHL (Sexual Health London) to access STI testing kits.
Role Responsibility
We are looking for a committed individual who is passionate about the sexual health needs of underrepresented communities and are dedicated to sexual health promotion. You will support in the design and delivery sexual health and wellbeing workshops tailored towards each community’s needs, running drop-in services, training for professionals, and working with community organisations to put on health and wellbeing events related to sexual health.
This role will contribute a holistic approach to safeguarding vulnerable adults in identifying behaviours which are positive and supportive, in contrast to those that are exploitative and controlling. A key part of this role delivering on quality work which is reported correctly to ensure it can be linked into outcomes and KPI’s agreed with our commissioners.
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll need to be computer literate, have the skills to multi-task, able to manage your own time and be able to bring a naturally positive disposition to our team. Possession of RSE accreditation or relevant NVQ in social care or an equivalent is ideal, as is the motivation to acquire a qualification.
This role is remote and mostly working on outreach in the community, sometimes lone working. The role requires the worker to be flexible with unsociable hours working some evenings and weekends.
