Experienced Support Worker - Parson Cross - Sheffield

Job Introduction

Turning Point is seeking an experienced support worker to lead a dedicated team of people providing support for people with a Learning Disability, for our brand new, purpose built supported living service in Sheffield.

Our new service provides a relaxed and comfortable home for 8 individuals with a variety of health needs, including Learning Disabilities and complex needs.

Role Responsibility

This is a key role which will assist the Team Manager in maintaining a high quality of support. You will either have previous support worker experience or be currently working as a senior support worker in healthcare, mental health, autism, learning difficulties or people with acquired brain injuries.

As the senior support worker lead, you will be taking the responsibility of running the shift to supervise others in delivering support to people to achieve the outcomes identified within their support plans (e.g supporting people with their medication, supporting people with their finances, staying safe and independence in their own homes, and accessing their local community, maintaining friends and relationships).  

The support worker lead will model their own good practice & compliance with Turning Point’s policies and procedures within the team, acting as role practitioner, coach & mentor to others, ensure a high quality service is provided.  You will also be involved in inducting new staff to their roles, including temporary and agency staff.

The Ideal Candidate

This is a hands-on job supporting people with a full range of daily activities, including supporting people with personal care and you will have Support Work experience, ideally within Learning Disability setting.

You will also be:

  • Passionate, caring and enthusiastic
  • Flexible, patient and non-judgemental
  • A great team player with lots of energy
  • Able to demonstrate good communication skills
  • Able to complete the physical aspects of the role such as manual handling
  • A good knowledge of using Microsoft Word and Excel with the ability to produce documents and use emails

Having a driving licence is necessary.
