Senior Recovery Worker (Rehab & Detox Lead) - City & Hackney

Job Introduction

Right now, we are now looking for a talented Senior Recovery Worker to work within our community-based substance misuse services in the City of London and Hackney.

The service is delivered in partnership with Mind CHWF and London Friend and there is a focus on partnership working throughout the service to support those in the local community who need assistance to achieve their goals. We deliver treatment and support across the neighbourhoods ensuring a holistic and inclusive approach to recovery in this service.

Role Responsibility

To assist in delivering Turning Point’s Substance Misuse strategy which reflects our person centred values and the high levels of ambition we have both for the recovery of the individuals for whom we provide support and the development of our own staff by leading, developing and co-ordinating a team of Recovery and Support Workers to ensure the delivery of high quality, innovative care.

Ensure you and your team work flexibly in a variety of settings, creating care and support plans that meet the needs of the service and clients in accordance with the recovery agenda, by;

  • To lead and co-ordinate all processes relating to referrals to inpatient detoxification and residential rehabilitation liaising with Adult Care Services
  • To track all referrals to inpatient detox and residential rehabilitation and ensure that appropriate actions are taken by Recovery Workers at appropriate times and that outcomes are tracked
  • To lead on the development and refinement of processes relating to residential rehabilitation including developing paperwork, tracking spreadsheets and process guides and support the set up and facilitation of PSI groups relevant to Tier 4
  • To deliver training and support to Recovery Workers to ensure processes are understood and to enable them to complete residential rehabilitation assessments as required. 
  • To specifically offer support and guidance relating to financial assessments
  • To upload completed assessments to Mosaic, arrange Tier 4 placements and ensure robust aftercare plans are in place
  • To develop and lead on a residential rehabilitation referral and decision panel including ensuring all preparatory work and follow up is completed
  • To quality assure all inpatient detox and residential rehab referrals
  • To work with commissioners to ensure that spending on residential rehabilitation does not exceed allocated budget
  • To undertake audits to ensure the quality of work in preparation for inpatient detox and residential rehabilitation
  • To line manage Recovery Workers as required
  • To lead on all aspects of performance management relating to inpatient detox and residential rehabilitation

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Tier 4 processes and experience of completing CCA applications
  • Commitment to customer service (demonstrating, and promoting within the team, empathy with clients and the need to work collaboratively with them to understand and help to meet their needs).
  • Effective communication (establishing rapport with others, listening effectively, handling challenging situations with clients, communicating confidently with direct reports, colleagues, managers and medical professionals).
  • Delivering positive outcomes (planning own time to deliver defined outcomes, modelling personal accountability, planning and monitoring own and others’ caseload plans to ensure interventions are on track and remain valid).
  • Building relationships (embodying person-centred approach to empowering clients and direct reports, engaging others in identifying and committing to solutions and outcomes, building trust with service users).
  • Collaborating with others (working flexibly, supporting and challenging colleagues to create plans that meet client and business needs).
  • Substance misuse appreciation (drug and alcohol awareness).
  • Substance misuse harm reduction, assessment and care/recovery planning skills.
  • Client risk management and safeguarding knowledge and skills
