Senior Project Worker / Team Leader – Criminal Justice / Mental Health / Substance Misuse

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

As a leading UK provider of social and support services, we believe that everyone should have the chance to achieve their ambitions – whether that’s our staff, or the individuals we support.

Location: East Midlands (Nottingham, Lincoln, Leicester)

Role Responsibility

Enjoying the chance to travel across the region, you’ll join a small team focused on supporting offenders to address substance misuse and/ or emotional wellbeing issues. Working ‘through-the-gate’, your role will be as crucial as it is varied.  You will build relationships with offenders at prisons across the region, conduct initial assessments and shape action plans designed to give people the best possible new start.

In addition to carrying a caseload, you will line manage a small team project staff supporting offenders in their resettlement and progress toward becoming gainfully employed.

Working on a “through-the-gate” basis, your team will engage with eligible offenders at prisons across the region, conduct initial assessments and delivering individualised support to address substance misuse and/or emotional wellbeing issues. You will adopt a multi-agency approach to service delivery, working with a range of statutory and non-statutory partners including Community Rehabilitation Companies, National Probation Service, HM Prison Service and voluntary agencies.   You will also work closely with the operations manager to ensure that performance and quality targets for the service are met.

The Ideal Candidate

Ideally you will already have experience of supervising the delivery of health or welfare services and/or have experience of delivering services within prisons and/or to customers involved with the criminal justice system.  Knowledge and/or experience of working with individuals with substance misuse and/or mental health problems would also be advantageous.  Particularly important will be your motivational and engagement skills as you will be working with an often reluctant client group.. Finally, good numeracy, literacy and IT skills are vital, as are a full driving licence, access to a vehicle and the flexibility to occasionally work outside the usual hours of 9am-5pm.
