Senior Employment Advisor - Wakefield Talking Therapies

Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Wakefield Talking Therapy Team as a Senior Employment Advisor.

At Wakefield Talking Therapies we specialise in evidence-based psychological therapies.

We support people in the local area who are having difficulty in coping and who may be suffering from a common mental illness such as depression, anxiety or phobias. Our approach embeds the notion of wellbeing and recovery and promotes personal responsibility for lifestyle choices and self-management of mental wellbeing.

This is a hybrid role which involves working with clients through a mix of home working, community-based work, via telephone, and face to-face appointments so having access to a car is essential.

Role Responsibility

You will be leading, coaching and managing a small team of specialist employment advisors.

You will be working closely with IAPT Clinical staff and with a range of external agencies, community groups and organisations including Jobcentre plus, trade unions, employers, employment agencies and advocacy services.

The post holder will conduct employment assessments and will manage a small caseload of clients who have experienced mental health problems and want support to obtain a job or to retain their existing employment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with strong organisational, time management and organisational skills and with the ability to lead, manage and deliver supervision.

You will possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to actively listen, empathise with people and provide person-centred support in a non-judgemental way.

You will have a good understanding of employment law and the work implications that may result from mental health conditions.

Experience of providing employment / vocation support and supervising staff is necessary.
