We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Assistant Psychologist to join the Turning Point Drug & Alcohol Wellbeing Service in London which provides expert quality service to Westminster Borough, Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham Borough. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, creative and highly successful substance misuse service, providing high quality integrated health care and expert treatment for a diverse client group with substance misuse and associated mental health problems and their families and significant others including evidence based psychosocial and psychological interventions. There is a focus on partnership working throughout the service to support those in the local community who need assistance to achieve their goals.
You would be joining a well-established multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, recovery wellbeing practitioners, criminal justice workers, outreach workers, support workers, ETE specialists, group facilitators, social workers, family workers, experts by experience and peer mentors and volunteers. We deliver treatment and support ensuring a holistic and inclusive approach to recovery and you will have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support who are experiencing difficulties from drug and alcohol use.
Role Responsibility
The role of the Senior Assistant Psychologist is to support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service across all sectors of care; assisting in the development, delivery and evaluation of an evidence-based model of psychosocial and psychological interventions for substance misuse and co-existing mental health problems under the supervision of a qualified psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies, procedures, manuals and protocols.
The post holder will also support clinically related administration; administer questionnaires or standardised psychometric tests, conduct audits, collect data and statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
The post holder will receive clinical supervision and support from the Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist and other senior clinicians within the team. The post holder may also be required to work elsewhere within the area served by our Specialist services.
The post holder will use remote technology to contribute to psychology-related projects as agreed with the Principal Psychologist.
The Ideal Candidate
You will need at least a 2:1 degree in psychology and BPS Graduate Membership, an understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health and substance misuse problems.
You will have had previous experience of working in a health or social care setting as an Assistant Psychologist. Prior experience of delivering group-based psycho-social interventions to clients within a mental health setting is essential.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to enable you to complete reports for partner agencies as well as deliver psycho-social interventions to clients on a daily basis.
Tailored induction and training will be provided to enable you to work effectively with in this role.
