An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Turning Point’s Leicester City Substance Misuse Services as a Rough Sleepers Advanced Practitioner. You’ll join a brand-new project aimed at supporting those who sleep rough, and are at risk of sleeping rough, into drug and alcohol treatment.

Role Responsibility

As a Rough Sleepers Advanced Practitioner your role will be all about being proactive and doing everything possible to support those sleeping rough into treatment.  You will work with colleagues and partner agencies to run street-based outreach, as well as delivering drop ins and structured sessions within hostels and day centres.

You will provide day to day supervision and case management support to two Rough Sleepers Recovery Workers, you will lead in terms of your key specialism and have responsibilities in engaging partners and developing pathways and support networks for the individuals the team are working with.

You will have a small caseload of individuals sleeping rough or at risk of sleeping rough who you will support, enabling you to go above and beyond and do all possible to support into treatment and help to end rough sleeping in Leicester City.

You will need to work flexibly to engage rough sleepers at times to suit them.  This will include early morning outreach and breakfast sessions and evenings and weekend working as part of a rota within your team.

You will work in a brand-new Rough Sleepers Treatment Team alongside nurses, doctors, mental health practitioner, psychologists and with the support of an experienced Team Leader.

The Ideal Candidate

You will need two years’ experience of working in either the housing or substance use sector and you must have a real passion to help rough sleepers turn their lives around and an unwavering belief in the ability for individuals to make changes.  You do not need management experience to apply for this role, but you must be able to demonstrate leadership potential.  You must be caring, flexible and responsive and be able to work using your own initiative and as part of a team.  We welcome applications from individuals with lived experience of the challenges faced by rough sleepers. We would also welcome applications from individuals who are looking to work part time.
