Recovery Worker - ROAR

Role Responsibility

Raising the bar for person-centred care, you’ll provide advice and information to service users. Of course, that means not only putting their wellbeing first, but providing an outstanding service for their families too. People’s lives will be truly changed by you. Based within the Locality Team you will provide support to service users from the first moment they walk through our doors, shaping their first impressions of us as a team. The role incorporates providing essential harm reduction advice and support, brief interventions, initial assessments, individual work with clients who are dependant on a wide range of substances and the management of prescriptions. From recognising indicators of substance and alcohol misuse and working both 1-2-1 and within group work settings, your dedication will make a better future possible.

To assist in delivering Turning Point’s Substance Misuse strategy by planning and providing high quality, innovative care which reflects our person-centred values and the high levels of ambition we have for the recovery of the individuals for whom we provide support.

Work flexibly in a variety of settings to create care and support plans that meet the needs of the service and clients in accordance with the recovery agenda.

Deliver excellent person-centred interventions with individuals for whom we provide support within the Service in accordance with agreed recovery plans.

Ensure that the agreed quality objectives are met by prioritising, planning and organising your own workload with reference to caseload plans agreed with your Senior Recovery Worker / Hub Manager.

Contribute to the services growth and business development plans by being an advocate for Turning Point to clients, their families, stakeholders and other external contacts and partners through delivering on commitments and presenting Turning Point in a positive image

The Ideal Candidate

As a Recovery Worker within the Rochdale and Oldham Active Recovery Service (ROAR), you will be based over both Rochdale or Oldham hubs. You’ll have a deep understanding of substance and alcohol misuse and the Recovery Agenda. It’s an extremely varied role, so flexibility, an ability to work dynamically on a one to one and group basis and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital.

Naturally, we also look for Recovery Workers with excellent communication skills and, ideally, a vocational qualification, such as an NVQ 3 or equivalent. You will be responsible for the management of a caseload and therefore must possess good organisation, time management skills. 

We value individual creativity and initiative and, whatever your role, you will be fully involved in identifying opportunities to improve the quality of our services and the service user experience. Your ideas will be listened to and your suggestions implemented wherever possible. You will be supported in your role by extensive training to help develop your skills.
