Recovery Worker - ROAR

Role Responsibility

Raising the bar for people-centred care, you’ll provide advice and information to service users. Of course, that means not only putting their wellbeing first, but providing an outstanding service for their families too. People’s lives will be truly changed by you. Based within the Engagement Team you will provide support to service users from the first moment they walk through our doors shaping their first impressions of us as a team. The role incorporates work within a needle exchange setting providing essential harm reduction advice and support, brief interventions, initial assessments, group work and individual work with clients who are non-dependant.. From recognising indicators of substance and alcohol misuse and making referrals, to working both 1-2-1 and within group work settings, your dedication will make a better future possible.

The Ideal Candidate

As an Engagement Team Recovery Worker within the Rochdale Oldham Active Recovery Service (ROAR), you will be based at the Rochdale hub. The Engagement Team play a vital role in engaging and motivating service users into treatment ensuring a dynamic and responsive front end to the service, guaranteeing service users receive appropriate and timely support from point of referral into structured treatment. You’ll have a deep understanding of substance and alcohol misuse and the Recovery Agenda. It’s an extremely varied role, so flexibility, an ability to work dynamically on a one to one and group basis and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital. Naturally, we also look for Recovery Workers with excellent communication skills and, ideally, a vocational qualification, such as an NVQ 3 or equivalent.

Your ideas will be listened to and your suggestions implemented wherever possible. You will be supported in your role by extensive training to help develop your skills.
