Recovery Worker - Residential Rehabilitation and Detox

Turning Point’s drug & alcohol services are currently expanding during a really exciting time in the sector with new funding and investment. We have a range of roles for people passionate about supporting others to make change.

We have roles in different teams including:

  • Community based treatment services: providing assessment, coordinating treatment and working partnership to support individuals. The roles include delivering structured psycho-social interventions in group and one to level to enable our service users to acquire thinking skills and behaviours to make lasting change.
  • Homeless outreach provision: Targeting homeless individuals, offering a flexible and outreach response to highly vulnerable individuals sleeping rough or living in temporary accommodation
  • Criminal Justice rehabilitation/recovery services:  working closely with the Probation Services, Prisons and Police to provide a rapid, tailored response to individuals that support their recovery and rehabilitation

As a Recovery Worker we offer a starting salary of £24,150 with annual pay progression up to £28,252 (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

The role will be a countywide position based at our Loughborough hub. The base can be negotiated for the successful candidate.

Role Responsibility

  • Support Recovery Workers and service users with advice and signposting to in respect to detox and rehab
  • Reviewing all County and Rutland detox referrals to ensure correct and to standard
  • Logging of referrals and tracking through to admission/discharge
  • Ensure all discharges to community have care plan and that RW has arranged follow up support
  • Arrange all prehab  groups
  • Facilitate prehab group and document attendance
  • Complete all rehabilitation assessments
  • Chair rehabilitation panel by ensuring all supporting documentation is available and presenting relevant cases
  • Document panel discussions and outcomes
  • When funding approved liaison between service user and rehab placement and facilitating arrangements for admission
  • Act as care manager whilst service user in rehab
  • Liaise with rehabs on discharges both emergency and planned to ensure safety of service user and plans for community support
  • Will also support wider assessments for county team when required

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll have an understanding of substance and alcohol misuse and the challenges and opportunities for individuals on a recovery journey. However, we also recognise that many people have transferrable skills from other backgrounds such as mental health, housing or other health and social care provision. The roles are varied, so flexibility, an ability to work dynamically on a one to one and group basis and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital but we can help to shape these skills where needed. We also look for candidates with excellent communication skills and who share our values as an organisation. We value individuals with lived experience but also those who are just interested in this line of work; our Trainee Recovery Worker program enables individuals without all relevant experience to gain an entry level position within the organisation before moving on to other roles.

Your ideas will be listened to and your suggestions implemented wherever possible. You will be supported in your role by extensive training to help develop your skills.
