Prison Wellbeing Nurse or Pharmacy Technician - HMP Leicester
Job Introduction
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Prison Substance Misuse Nurse or Pharmacy Technician to join Turning Point’s large clinical team delivering substance misuse interventions across Leicestershire including within HMP Leicester. You will join a large and experience team of clinicians operating across the prison and community delivering all substance misuse treatment interventions across Leicestershire.
You will be part of the integrated team but be predominantly based in HMP Leicester. The role will include responsibility for dispensing controlled medication, supporting the assessment and management of new receptions into HMP Leicester and contributing to observations and support for those undergoing alcohol detoxification.
Role Responsibility
Join us at and you'll work alongside a team of pharmacists, doctors, nurses and recovery workers to provide person centred support to our service users. Your role will involve working alongside healthcare professionals and recovery workers in HMP Leicester and our Lead Pharmacist to deliver a wide range of duties including:
- Assisting in the provision of dispensing services in HMP Leicester
- Administration of and supervision of medication in HMP Leicester
- Stock control and monitoring of medication in HMP Leicester
- Medication management within HMP Leicester and our community Drug and Alcohol services
- Supporting the management of service users undertaking alcohol detoxification including undertaking observation
- Policies and procedures development
- Support in the development of Community Pharmacy services
It's a role that calls for excellent communication skills, initiative and flexibility.
You will be a member of an integrated clinical and psycho-social team within HMP Leicester who deliver all the substance misuse services and will have the opportunity to be involved in the delivery of our group and individual based interventions.
You may also have the opportunity to run Well-being clinics in the community delivering Blood Bourne Virus testing and vaccination, supporting the management of community detoxifications and other harm reduction and well-being interventions.
The Ideal Candidate
You will need to be a qualified nurse registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council or with a current General Pharmaceutical Council registration, you'll be able to show relevant current or past experience working in a secure environment or within a medicines management team at the primary or secondary care interface. Applications from community pharmacy will also be considered.
As an employee you will have access to RCN to assist with revalidation, indemnity insurance and support and supervision from the nurse manager and clinical lead.
The ability to obtain prison clearance is an essential requirement of this role.
