Prison Substance Misuse Nurse - HMP Leicester

Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Prison Substance Misuse Nurse to join Turning Point’s large clinical team delivering substance misuse interventions across Leicestershire including within HMP Leicester. You will join a large and experience team of clinicians operating across the prison and community delivering all substance misuse treatment interventions across Leicestershire.

Role Responsibility

You will be part of the integrated team but be predominantly based in HMP Leicester. The role will include responsibility for dispensing controlled medication, supporting the assessment and management of new receptions into HMP Leicester and contributing to observations and support for those undergoing alcohol detoxification.

You will be a member of an integrated clinical and psycho-social team within HMP Leicester who deliver all the substance misuse services and will have the opportunity to be involved in the delivery of our group and individual based interventions.

As a registered Nurse you may also have the opportunity to run Well-being clinics in the community delivering Blood Bourne Virus testing and vaccination, supporting the management of community detoxifications and other harm reduction and well-being interventions.

The Ideal Candidate

You will need to be a qualified nurse registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.

As an employee you will have access to RCNi to assist with revalidation, indemnity insurance and support and supervision from the nurse manager and clinical lead.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake shift working in HMP Leicester as the service delivers interventions from 7.00am-9.00pm weekdays and at weekends. Part time hours will be considered. The ability to successfully achieve prison clearance is an essential requirement of this role.
