Nottingham Personality Disorder Pathway is a new community based service that offers innovative and proactive support to individuals with a diagnosis of a Personality Disorder. The service delivers strengths-based and psychologically informed support using a blended method of both face to face and digital technology. A Core Therapeutic Programme involving elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Mood Management is offered alongside evidence-based Mindfulness and Relapse Prevention Skills. Individuals will be supported by a team consisting of Psychology Practitioners and Peer Support Workers.
The role of a Peer Support Worker has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of mental ill health. Through sharing examples of their own experiences, Peer Support Workers will inspire hope and belief in individuals to enable them to manage during difficult or distressing situations.
Role Responsibility
Together with a team of Psychology Practitioners, you will be responsible for helping to deliver a community based, psychologically informed programme of support to individuals with a Personality disorder. You will deliver this programme using a blended approach of face to face support and accessible digital technology, both in group and 1-1 settings. You will use elements of evidence-based psychological interventions such as DBT, trauma-informed practice and relapse prevention skills to form the base of interventions and support.
As a pivotal and highly valued member of the team, the Peer Support Worker will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to service users, in order for them to regain control of their lives, and help them to develop their own unique skill set. The Peer Support Worker will work alongside a clinically informed Team with oversight from a dedicated Clinical Psychologist.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a patient, non-judgement individual who is able to use their own experience and journey of recovery to support our service user group, in a compassionate and respectful way. We are seeking an individual who will have an understanding of Personality Disorder.
Our ideal candidate has a firm grasp of Recovery Principles and has completed their Accredited Peer Support Training. We are looking for an individual who is resourceful, resilient and innovative in their approach to working with individuals with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder.
Team working is essential, as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside effective communication skills and a flexible and supportive approach to delivering the service provision. Our ideal candidate will be confident in assisting to facilitate group work as well as independently support individuals on a 1-1 basis.
