Part-Time Support Worker - Cumbria Support Housing

Job Introduction

As part of our Cumbria Supported Accommodation, you'll work one-to-one with service users, preparing their support plans and gaining a full understanding of their needs and concerns. Helping them with everything from their benefits to booking medical appointments, you'll need to love talking to people with different needs, be interested in helping them and possess a deep level of empathy, understanding and patience.

Role Responsibility

The day to day duties of a Support Worker consist of:

  • Key working service users on a 1:1 basis
  • Development of person centred support plans and risk assessments
  • Liaison with community based teams including: Mental Health Team, Consultant Psychiatrist, GPs, charities, activity based services, DWP, Probationetc
  • Supporting service usersto maintain their tenancy and develop daily living skills in preparation for move on to the community
  • Support service users to adhere to their Probation and treatment orders

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for a people who know how to build close relationships and gain people's trust quickly. You don't need any formal qualifications as full training will be given, although NVQ in Social Care would be a big advantage. What is essential is that you have at least 12 months proven experience in a similar role along with a good awareness of  complex needs /mental health problems/ substance misuse problems/ homelessness / and can bring with you the flexibility to work in across a shift pattern, including some evenings and weekends. In return, you'll be supported with outstanding training and career development opportunities.
