Night Support Worker

Role Responsibility

As a Night Worker, you will join The Mill supported living service that supports 12 young people (Aged 16- 21) who are threatened with homelessness/ leaving care/ looked after children  or young people at risk.

As a Night Support Worker, you will provide added security, peace of mind and companionship to the young people at The Mill during out of hours’ time.

As a Night Support Worker you will be joining a team offering support to  young people, the aim being to ensure the physical, social and emotional support and development of the  young people at The Mill is achieved.

The Ideal Candidate

  • As a  Night Support Worker you are required to be awake during the duration of your working shift.
  • To ensure the safety and welfare of each young person for the duration of the wake night shift and  seek support from the police when needed.
  • Night times can be hard for young people as part of the wake night team you will need to be able to offer empathy and compassion during the night-time if needed.
  • To be able to use a computer to keep accurate records.
  • To be able to report young people as missing and follow the Missing Persons   procedure in doing so.
  • Communicate effectively with out of hour services including The On Call .
  • Answering phone calls professionally, taking messages and responding to requests and questions.
  • To provide a positive working role model for other colleagues and the young people resident.

As a great team player with lots of energy, you’ll need strong communication skills, a flexible approach and positive attitude to achieve targets in a challenging environment which requires empathy, understanding and patience.

Hours:  This role involves 9am -10 pm rotational shifts including evening and weekends and bank holidays.
