Mental Health Project Worker 2 - Hazel House
Job Introduction
We are looking for a dedicated, passionate and skilled Project Worker 2 to join our established and experienced team at Hazel House. Hazel House is one of three Services we run in our cluster with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Hazel House is a residential care unit with 10 rooms for residents, extensive areas and a beautiful small park behind the service. Our service users have more profound mental health and physical health issues. We support people to remain more independent and to move to less supported services or to maintain their optimum level of health and independence.
Role Responsibility
You will provide recovery focused support to service users in accordance with their support plans. You will have well-honed skills in positive communication and engagement, and will be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard for service users.
You will have the maturity to work within a positive framework, supporting tenants and managing a small staff team. You will have the ability to deliver services and interventions in a person centered, non-judgmental manner, and will inspire those whom you work with and manage to do the same.
You will be the first point of contact and will take a lead role in case management. You will work alongside members of the service user’s circle of support, to enable individuals to be happy, healthy, and successful in achieving their life goals.
You must be willing to actively embrace all aspects of the Project Worker 2 role including, but not limited to, ensuring effective plans in place which will enable staff to fully support service user with their daily living skills, as well as supporting individuals to develop their care plans and risk assessments, access educational / social opportunities and move on.
Your typical duties will include:
- providing support and guidance to service users and staff
- line managing a team of Support Workers including providing supervision and appraisals
- taking responsibility for person centered risk and needs assessment
- being involved, monitoring and supervising the safe running of the Service.
- formation and implementation of management plans
- administering medication and monitoring of medication procedures
- providing written reports to professionals and other organizations
- daily record keeping and attendance management
- escorting service users to appointments or meetings
- liaising with family and healthcare professionals
- running group activities
You will be required to work in a flexible manner on a roster basis including office hours, evenings and some weekends.
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience in the mental health sector is essential as is a genuine desire to support individuals in their recovery and a can-do attitude.
We need compassionate, proactive and professional individuals who are highly motivated, hardworking and keen to support service users with mental health and complex care needs.
We value the personal skills and interests you can bring to the role and to the lives of the service users we support, such as: sports, arts and crafts, music and cooking to name but a few.
As a Project Worker, there’s no such a thing as a typical day – every day is interesting and varied. Being a good communicator is essential, to be able to get on with people of all ages and from all backgrounds, and you will also be liaising with other professionals.
At times the job can be emotionally challenging so you have to be prepared, but you will be a valued team member and the support you provide will make a real difference to the happiness and wellbeing of both service users and staff.
