Media Manager

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

What does it take to become a leading health and social care organisation in the UK? It takes people who can turn lives around every day – providing encouragement, delivering innovative services and generally improving life for individuals with a learning disability or those affected by drug or alcohol misuse or mental health problems. But it’s not just our front-line teams that make a difference. So do the dedicated professionals who work behind the scenes to support the vital work we do. And that’s where you can come in.

Turning Point have an exciting opportunity for a Media Manager to join the team. You will be reporting into the Head of External Affairs and working within a wider external affairs, marketing and internal communications team.

We are located in Central London and are within close proximity to transport links. You will be required to work at our main office in London 2 days per week, and you will then have the option to work from home with a hybrid-working approach.

Role Responsibility

The main aim of the role is to maximise press coverage and help Turning Point develop its profile, nationally and locally. You will also be leading the media strategies for our B2B and consumer brands, Rightsteps and livelife, to raise awareness and support growth. You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and issuing press releases and statements
  • Content creation
  • Monitoring media coverage and analysing the news agenda to identify opportunities and risks
  • Briefing media spokespersons and building relationships with key journalists
  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders and organisations on specific projects and campaigns

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced communications professional with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work comfortably under pressure in a fast-paced environment. You will need to have excellent writing skills and a keen eye for a good story and the ability to pitch stories to journalists. A strong track record working in media relations and experience in health and/or social care is essential. Experience of commercial and consumer PR is desirable.

Closing date: 11th December 2022. Interviews are intended to be held on 14th/16th/20th December 2022 in the London office. We can potentially look at accommodating other  interview dates if required.
