Housing Worker- Starting Over

Job Introduction

Turning Point Tri-Borough Reducing Reoffending Service ‘Starting Over’ is seeking to recruit a Housing Worker (Reducing Reoffending) to work in the City of Westminster, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham. We provide an innovative assertive outreach approach to working with offenders focused on challenging offending behaviour and meeting health and social care needs.

Starting Over is a reducing reoffending service- We support clients to desist from crime by addressing their needs including issues relating to drugs, alcohol, mental health, learning disabilities, housing and employment, training and education. We work closely with the local IOM Teams.

Role Responsibility

As a Housing Worker you will source suitable accommodation for criminal justice clients working with local private rented, local authority and voluntary sector providers.

The post holder will provide knowledge and expertise in relation to homelessness and housing related issues, in order to support our clients to gain and sustain accommodation. You will be able to identify appropriate housing options available to clients, and through assessment and care planning provide advice, information and support as a stepping stone to the ultimate goal of reducing offending.

The Ideal Candidate

This vital role calls for experience in substance misuse and working within integrated, community settings, preferably in a busy urban setting. You will certainly know how to deliver a range of services, treatments and interventions in a person-centred way. This must be supported by strong knowledge of how to identify and support clients through risk, dual diagnosis, safe guarding and child protection issues. You will also need a good understanding of the recovery agenda and of combining medical and psycho-social support tools for maximum effect. Add to all these strengths excellent written and spoken communication skills, and you will quickly make your mark as part of our team.

Excellent communication and IT skills will be key, combined with the ability to thrive in a team as much as you do when working alone.
