Housing Recovery Worker - Housing Link
Job Introduction
At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with mental health needs. As a Recovery Worker with a sector leader within mental health, you’ll make a real difference to their lives as you develop the personal, flexible and recovery-focused support plans they need to help turn things around.
Housing Link was established in 1998 and provides an individually tailored service of community support to people aged 18 and over, living in Dacorum with a difficulty in maintaining their tenancy, or at current risk of tenancy difficulties. These tenancy difficulties will be due to mental health, learning disabilities, or problematic substance use (drugs & alcohol).
We visit people in their own homes or meet at community locations across the county and working together, we design a support package with goals that evolve with peoples changing needs and wishes. We offer high quality support that helps people take control, improve the quality of their lives and face the future with confidence
This is an outreach role so having a driving licence and access to a car is essential.
This is a full-time position and the hours are Mon-Fri 9 to 5.
Role Responsibility
People’s lives will be truly changed by you. As you support in any areas related to Housing, this could include working with homeless people as well as service users in their own home. You may be supporting with housing benefits, housing authorities, medical assessments, relocation and private landlords. You will work on a 1-1 basis with service users as well as attending a drop-in service once a week. You may be providing support to the service users' families as well.
The service runs a two hour drop in service on a Tuesday morning where people are able to attend on an ad hoc for support.
The Ideal Candidate
As well as previous experience, we also look for Recovery Workers with the IT skills needed to write up reports, and excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
As you never know what you’re facing until you knock on the door, a calm approach and the ability to identify and manage risk will be essential too.
This is an Outreach worker position, therefore you must be able to drive, have a vehicle for work use and business insurance. Housing Link Covers whole of the Dacorum area in Hertfordshire. The ‘Housing Link’ base is in Stevenage.
