High Intensity IPT Trainee - Total Wellbeing Luton

Job Introduction

Total Wellbeing Luton is a service providing an innovative approach which aims to support both the emotional and physical health needs of people across Luton. The service brings together a range of evidence-based interventions aimed at addressing emotional health concerns though Talking Therapies (IAPT) early whilst encouraging and enabling the adoption of healthier lifestyles, such as smoking cessation, weight management, increasing physical activity, and increasing quality of life in the context of long-term conditions.

Role Responsibility

We are currently looking for a full time permanent Interpersonal Therapist Trainee to join our Luton based IAPT team. The service provides evidenced based talking therapies for depression and anxiety problems within Primary Care according to a stepped model, where treatment meets the presenting need. You would be joining a team of therapists from treatment modalities including Counselling (CfD), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this role you will need to be a mental health practitioner with a qualification in psychological therapy with a minimum of two years post qualification experience. You will need to demonstrate that you have experience of supporting people within a mental health service, as well as being able to manage a caseload and have great communication skills.

**The successful applicant will need to be eligible and available to undertake the IAPT Interpersonal Therapy training course. The course commences on 31st October 2022 at the IPT West Midlands Training Centre. The training days will be as follows: 31st October, 1st, 2nd 7th, 8th, 9th November & 1st December 2022**

Alongside extensive experience of working within Mental Health, you’ll have a proven ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients and working relationships with your colleagues. You will manage your own caseload, including new referral assessments; facilitate group workshops, whilst working towards both service and individual targets. Experience of working within an IAPT service would be desirable, along with familiarity of using  IAPTus databases. Clinical and case management supervision will be provided within the service.

You will be required to work on an outreach and rota basis in the community as the service operates 6 days per week including evenings.
