Helpline Worker - Northumberland Recovery Partnership

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

Supporting and engaging people affected by substance misuse across Northumberland is a vitally important part of Turning Point’s work. By listening to their needs and creating personalised solutions we are making a real difference to individuals and the communities they belong to. So isn’t it time you joined us?

Hours of Work will generally be Monday-Friday between the hours of 9-5.

Running health facilities and services on a not-for-profit basis, we invest every penny back into our care – and our people. So, if you’re ambitious and focused on substance misuse, progress a career with real value.

Role Responsibility

We are now looking for a Helpline Worker for our referral helpline. You will be the first port of call for those affected by substance misuse in Northumberland. The challenges are substantial. For a start, you will support the staff team to develop flexible and realistic support packages and give practical advice and information to service users, their families and friends, and professionals regarding that support. You will ensure the smooth operation of the daily service by dealing with the referrals of new service users, assisting with their assessment and induction in to the service and provide them with the support and knowledge they need to get the most from their treatment. This will often mean working collaboratively with social services, GPs and a vast range of community partners to ensure the delivery of effective and recovery focused services. This role is a great development opportunity for those seeking to work in the substance misuse field.

The Ideal Candidate

This vital role calls for a general understanding of the issues that substance users face and working within integrated service community settings would be beneficial though not essential. Ideally you will certainly know how to work in a person-centred way and have an understanding of the recovery agenda. Add to all these strengths excellent written and spoken communication skills, and you will quickly make your mark as part of our team.
