Data & Performance Analyst - Alcohol Team - Leicester

We are currently recruiting for a Data Analyst to work in our Leicester City Substance Misuse Service, where you’ll have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support who are experiencing difficulties from drugs and alcohol usage. It is a junior data analyst role; experience of Excel is essential, but no other programming languages/systems.

Role Responsibility

An exciting, newly created role, the Data Analyst will be expected to support Turning Point’s Alcohol Care Team (ACT) within the Leicester Royal Infirmary with a variety of data and administrative tasks.

As Data Analyst you will hold responsibility for the collation and submission of data and performance reports for the ACT team. You will work across different data systems to source the required information and as such should be confident in using different IT systems to extract data. You will need to use your analysis skills to understand, interpret and present the data. Additionally you will also be expected to input referrals and treatment data to the patient information systems and compile reports for activity, quality and outcome data and carry out audits, liaising with other staff as appropriate.

The Alcohol Care Team (ACT) will support and advocate adherence to evidence based clinical practice in the area of alcohol dependency and misuse to ensure the provision of exemplary, evidenced based, integrated alcohol services for patients. Working closely with the existing University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) staff to develop, implement and promote ACT’s evidence-based alcohol withdrawal management protocols and act as point of contact for a cross-site, multi-disciplinary team of colleagues involved in the management and prevention of the physical and psychosocial adverse consequences of alcohol misuse.

Key responsibilities will also include to support the development of protocols, care pathways and educational tools to ensure appropriate referral to community-based alcohol services at Turning Point, with a focus on avoiding unnecessary hospital admission.

The Ideal Candidate

You will need to be an experienced administrator or data analyst with good organisational skills and a flexible attitude to work. Ideally you would be looking for a full-time role, but a minimum of 30 hours per week would be considered. The role will be based at Leicester Royal Infirmary but will also require working at Turning Point’s City Centre Hub as required. As the role progresses, it may be possible to undertake hybrid work (i.e. working from home.)

Essential Requirements:

  • Much of the work will be using Excel to collate, clean and present data from both the NHS and Turning Point, so a firm grasp of Excel is essential
  • Experience with other Microsoft Office packages: Word, Powerpoint, Outlook.
  • Experience of compiling reports, carrying out audits, basic data analysis

Desirable skills/experience:

  • Experience of data analysis / administrative duties in a health/social care organisation
  • Awareness of health issues relating to substance misuse.

This role does not require any knowledge or experience of systems/languages such as Python or SQL, as these will not be used.
