Criminal Justice Team Manager - ROAR

Job Introduction

Fixed Term Contract - Up to 12 Months + Possible Extension Subject to Funding

Turning Point in Rochdale and Oldham are expanding. We are looking for an experienced manager to join our dedicated and passionate management team to lead the development of our new criminal justice drug and alcohol recovery team. You will be an excellent communicator, able to build relationships with partners at a senior level to ensure excellent care and support for our clients coming via the probation service, prisons and liaison and diversion teams attached to GMP. You will be passionate about recovery and rehabilitation and share our commitment to reducing drug and alcohol related harms. Ideally you will have a good knowledge, or ability to learn fast, of criminal justice and or substance misuse services.

Role Responsibility

  • Develop, Lead and Manage a team of seniors, recovery and trainee staff (circa 16) to provide substance misuse interventions to offenders
  • Build and sustain excellent relationships across our criminal justice partners at a management and operational level with particular reference to prisons, Greater Manchester Police, Liaison and Diversion teams and the unified Probation Service.
  • Alongside the Probation Service to develop effective frameworks and protocols for improved partnership working to assess, treat and support drug or alcohol using offenders
  • Ensure a continual drive for high impact outcomes and excellent quality and performance of the team.
  • Recruitment, development, supervision and support of staff
  • Provide regular progress reports to commissioners, partners and senior management with Turning Point
  • Monitor and review compliance with targets and internal quality and risk management indicators.
  • Contribute effectively to the ROAR Senior Management Team and Turning Points wider management forums
  • Develop and hold implementation and delivery plans for the ROAR criminal justice team

The Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent knowledge of substance misuse treatment and recovery
  • Ability and experience of managing high performing teams
  • Experience of developing and sustaining effective partnerships at a senior level
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Ability to analyse performance and identify and plan for improvements
  • Understanding of risk and risk management, as it applies to substance misuse and offending
  • Ability to work under pressure
