Cook - Reevy Road

Job Introduction

At Turning Point, we support people with learning disabilities up and down the country. We currently have an opportunity for a Cook to join our busy team at our Reevy Road Care Home.

Reevy Road is a 24 bed residential care home. You will be responsible for cooking an assortment of dishes to suit a variety of dietary needs. As the cook you will be expected to be involved in the individuals we support with their meal choices. You will be jointly responsible for the ordering of stock, stock control and the managing a food budget.

Shift Pattern 

The role is for 37 hours per week and will include working mornings, afternoons and evening across a 7-day period including bank holidays. 

Role Responsibility

As a cook you will be responsible for:

  • The preparation of beverages and preparing/serving of food to the individuals we support
  • Ensuring that the kitchen service areas are clean and tidy in line with the Environmental Health and Local Authority standards
  • Ensuring health and safety regulations are followed
  • Cleanliness and replenishment of stock
  • Working in a person-centred approach
  • Ordering stock accurately and efficiently

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have a good understanding of working within the food or catering industry
  • Excellent communication skills, be able to budget
  • Previous catering/food preparation experience in a similar role
  • Excellent team working skills and be able to organise a kitchen.
  • The ability to be adaptable and able to work within a challenging fast paced environment
  • Have a level 2 in food preparation and food hygiene
