Job Introduction

Turning Point, working in partnership with Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest and Antidote, provide the City and Hackney Recovery service.  The service is based in each of City and Hackney’s neighbourhoods in order to be accessible, local and inclusive.  A full integrated service will contribute to recovery, social inclusion and improving the quality of life of all our service users in the City of London and Hackney borough. It will be shaped by the community needs and voices of service users, carers, families, communities, all staff and volunteers. The service has three elements:  Out There, Everywhere- specialist outreach, in reach and engagement; Building Blocks- low, medium and high-intensity support pathways; and Get Connected- building on our local, individual and shared assets to provide recovery capital and peer support.

Role Responsibility

This role will involve scoping, planning, coordinating and supporting delivery of the marketing and communications activities to promote Turning Point’s Recovery Service across City and Hackney and Public Health Awareness Campaigns. It will also involve increasing community involvement with the City and Hackney Recovery Service as well as identifying understanding and engaging under-represented groups within a diverse inner-London borough, and develop strategies to improve digital outreach to these demographic populations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the marketing/communications plan, working closely with the Communities Manager and the Access and Engagement Manager to scope, plan and implement activities, including:

  • Identifying who we are targeting and how we are reaching specific cohorts (using marketing data)
  • Supporting promotional activities to drive an increase in referrals
  • Supporting health promotion and Public Health campaigns working alongside the service leads
  • Leading on content generation and driving a content management strategy within the service
  • Creating routine key messages and disseminating them; including more complex messaging
  • Creating content for the service’s social media
  • Promotional support for community outreach activities
  • Assisting with the implementation of plans to build Turning Point’s presence in new and existing territories
  • Awareness of and compliance with internal branding guidance and consistent with wider organisation image
  • Highlighting concerns and as appropriate presenting solutions
  • Contributing to effective cost management in own team by carrying out day to day activities and making routine workplace decisions that reflect an understanding of costs
  • Escalating any issues or concerns which are relevant to the role and have not been mitigated. Presenting solution to risk as appropriate
  • Helping the team to optimise its performance by making full use of and highlighting/suggesting improvements to the management of IT, facilities, processes and other physical resources that impact on the administration of marketing activity
  • Carrying out day to day tasks in accordance with stated policies, procedures and regulations to assist compliance with regulatory, risk and health & safety requirements
  • Projecting the desired image of Turning Point by demonstrating the organisational values in day to day behaviour at work and always understanding and following all job relevant policies, procedures and work standards. 

The Ideal Candidate

This is a new role in the organisation working with the Communities team. To be considered for the role you will need to be highly driven and confident, be collaborative and comfortable working across the business alongside different staff members, and able to present new ideas to managers and wider audiences. You will be highly organised, and have effective editing, copywriting, and proofing skills. A good understanding of social media, Microsoft Office, Excel and spread sheets is essential.

Previous experience of working within digital marketing is desirable however we will equally consider applications from individuals who are interested and passionate about working in the non-profit sector, expanding the organisation’s social media and marketing reach. This is a great opportunity for an individual who is looking to start or progress their career within a leading health and social care environment.

This is a part-time role, you will be required to work 2-3 days per week as decided with your manager. Flexible working hours will be considered for the right candidate.
