Clinical Administrator - Wakefield Inspiring Recovery

At Turning Point we provide services across the whole country which delivers end to end drug and alcohol treatment and support, family services, housing advice and support for those in contact with the criminal justice system, needle exchange system, and custody outreach. We are a specialist in delivering whole treatment system approaches across cities and county areas, which has led to the reduction in people falling through gaps between services and delivers improved outcomes.        

We are currently recruiting for a Clinical Administrator to work in our substance misuse service in Wakefield on a fixed term basis, where you’ll have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support who are experiencing difficulties from drugs and alcohol usage.

Role Responsibility

This post will be based within our Admin team for up to 12 months. The main responsibilities of this role are generating and distributing prescriptions, dealing with prescription queries and liaising with pharmacies, booking appointments, preparing correspondence to GPs, maintaining accurate records and providing administrative support to the Clinical Team and the wider service.

As a Clinical Administrator within the service you may be required to cover other administrative roles as necessary, including our reception and front of house duties. This is a very varied role so you will need to be flexible and adaptable and be willing to take on a variety of roles as no two day will be the same.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for a confident communicator who can prioritise a varied workload and provide wide–ranging administrative support. Comfortable talking to service users, you should be customer focused with the ability to maintain confidentiality, gather information and meet deadlines. You must be a superb organiser and supportive team player with keen attention to detail, impressive administration skills and a good understanding of Microsoft Office, Excel and spread sheets.

You do not necessarily need experience of the substance misuse sector, but you'll show that you can work best in a team, demonstrating a proven track record in administration preferably within a clinical setting although this is not essential.

Essential requirements:

  • Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good organisational and administration skills
  • Good customer care skills
  • Effective communication skill
  • Ability to prioritise a busy workload
  • Basic understanding of practical Data Protection issue
  • Able to work well within a team
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and within available resources
