Bid Manager - Mental Health and Learning Disabilities

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

At Turning Point, it’s our job to empower people in their journey to independence and recovery. Through our person-centred approach to support, we are one of the country’s leading Health and Social Care providers, with a turnover of over £130m p/a.

We continue to grow, and we’ve big ambitions to stay on that upward curve. Join us as a Bid Manager for our Mental Health and Learning Disability Services, and you’ll help us do just that by working as part of our dedicated business development team.

This could be the ideal opportunity to step up from a Bid Co-ordinator or Bid Writer role.

Role Responsibility

You will be joining our highly successful team that delivers growth in the scope and scale of our Mental Health, Forensic and Learning Disabilities business.  The role will be to respond to open market procurement opportunities as well as to support Business Development Managers by managing proposal generation for proactive sales activities.

Role Responsibilities

  • To manage the end-to end bid creation, governance, submission and award process. This includes creation of the written bid proposal, crafting impactful presentations and preparatory documents for interview and negotiation phases.
  • To be responsible for assembling and organising an internal bid project team that will work together to create a winning submission. This will start with the development of a value proposition and win strategy that will then be fully optimised and using internal discussions and external clarification.
  • To help prepare and review all commercial aspects of bids under your management.

The Ideal Candidate

This is a role that requires exceptional relationship management and commercial ability. You will need to become highly networked across the organisation and drive project teams to deliver creative and compelling output to tight deadlines. You will need to understand and resolve complex issues and maintain compliance to corporate governance risk and return guidelines.

The role can be based at home or at our office in Central Manchester.  Some travel to office based meetings is a requirement.

  • It is essential that you have working knowledge of the bid process from your current or previous roles.
  • You will ideally have gained bids, sales or operational experience in Mental Health, Forensic or Learning Disability services; however transferable skills and genuine motivation to work in this sector will be equally valid.
  • You will have a strong academic background or be able to demonstrate relevant work-based learning and experience in bids and /or sales.
